Dr Naomi Hunter
Dr Naomi Hunter graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle in 1985.
She completed her internship and residency at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney,
before completing a paediatric residency at the Mater Hospital in Newcastle. In 1988
she commenced general practice in Newcastle. In 1989 she commenced training in
the field of Phlebology at the Cardiovascular Centre, Newcastle under the tuition of
Dr Alan Bray and Dr Paul Thibault, prominent pioneers in this field.
She subsequently founded the “Newcastle Vein Clinic” in 1989 which quickly became
a large and successful phlebology practice. In February 2006 she commenced her
new practice “Hunter Vein Clinic”.
Dr Naomi Hunter is also an experienced general practitioner who has practised in the
Newcastle region since 1988 and subsequently specialised in phlebology. She has
worked as an assistant surgeon, particularly in the field of varicose vein surgery.
Dr Naomi Hunter has performed approximately 15,000 treatments on 5,000 patients
over this time which means she has given (a conservative estimate of) 225,000
actual injections! As a sufferer of varicose veins herself, Dr Hunter takes an
active interest in the treatment of varicose veins and new developments in the field.
Apart from treating venous disorders, she enjoys gardening, garden design,
fashion and raising her 7 children on a rural property in the Hunter Valley
